The Depart­ment of Parks and Wildlife pro­tects and con­serves the State’s nat­ur­al envi­ron­ment on behalf of the peo­ple of West­ern Aus­tralia. Its key respon­si­bil­i­ties include con­serv­ing bio­di­ver­si­ty and man­ag­ing the State’s nation­al parks, marine parks and oth­er reserves, which cov­er a total area of more than 27 mil­lion hectares.
The parks in the West Kim­ber­ley con­sist of: Eighty Mile Beach Marine Park, Yawu­ru Nag­u­la­gun / Roe­buck Bay Marine Park, Yawu­ru Con­ser­va­tion Estate,Danggu Geikie Gorge,Wunaamin Con­ser­va­tion Park, Bandil­ngan (Wind­jana Gorge) Nation­al Park, Dimalur­ru (Tun­nel Creek), Row­ley Shoals Marine Park, Lalang-gar­ram / Cam­den Sound Marine Park, Lalang-gar­ram / Hor­i­zon­tal Falls Marine Park and North Lalang-gar­ram Marine Park.
