You can’t hold on tight enough.
Fresh off the back of a season at the Sydney Opera House and a sold-out season at Dark Mofo, Perth’s most exciting performance makers Side Pony Productions and The Last Great Hunt are bringing their award-winning production The Irresistible to Broome. Nominated for Best Play in the 2018 Helpmann Awards, this dark and creepy production will play one show only, Saturday 28 September at the Broome Civic Centre, presented by the Shire of Broome.
Reminiscent of Stranger Things and Twin Peaks, The Irresistible is a darkly comic sci-fi thriller. Told through a series of intertwining stories The Irresistible is an enthralling performance that will seep into your imagination for days.
Created by some of Australia’s most innovative theatre makers Tim Watts, Zoe Pepper and Adriane Daff; The Irresistible combines Tim Watts’ beautiful theatrical visuals with the complex stories and characters so familiar in Zoe Pepper’s body of work.
The core creative team are joined by some of Australia’s finest
theatre artists including one of Australia’s most talented, multi-
award-winning composers, Ash Gibson Greig (WA), who has created a haunting score. Set and Costume Designer Jonathon Oxlade (SA), winner of the 2016 AACTA Award for Best Costume Design, and award-winning Lighting Designer Richard Vabre (Vic) both bring many years of experience and a unique creative perspective to the production. Sound Designer, Phil Downing (NSW) brings over 20 years’ experience creating dynamic sound designs for some of Australia’s most innovative theatre companies.
About the show: April doesn’t think about the inexplicable event that defined her childhood. Bridget is haunted by memories she just can’t forget. Step into an intoxicating world where time slips and slides. Location is fluid. In this bold and unsettling new work, two exceptional performers bleed between characters to navigate a tangled web of stories. Disturbing new connections will be uncovered. Secrets will invade every crevice, and the tense tapestry of reality will begin to unravel. You can’t see it. You can barely hear it. Feel its breath on your neck for a moment, before it retreats back into the fog.
