Exmouth Diving & Whaleshark Centre has been operating for many years on the Ningaloo Reef and is Exmouth’s original dive centre. We specialise in Scuba Diving, Snorkelling, WhaleShark Swim Tours, Humpback Whale Watching & Humpback Whale Swims and having a great time on the Ningaloo Reef!
What makes this such a special place? Well we have the most consistent congregation of adolescent Whaleshark, which allows us to Whaleshark Swim every day from March to August and Guarantee it! Don’t just come for the fun of a Whaleshark swim, as there are many other seasonal visitors to the Ningaloo reef. Humpback whales are in the area from June until November and Manta rays can be seen along the Ningaloo Reef near Exmouth from May to November. As summer arrives, so do the Green, Loggerhead and Hawksbill turtles and they begin their nesting season after mating during October and November and can be seen on the beaches right up until March.
Add the bio-diversity of 250 species of corals, a great assortment of Nudibranches and over 500 different species of fish including local reef sharks to the mix and it makes Exmouth an impressive destination all year round.
Exmouth Diving Centre is located just behind the Potshot hotel on Payne St.
Surrounded by an abundance of coral gardens, rocky ledges and intriguing dive sites, the Muiron Islands are located about 10nm north east of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open during the 45 minute trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shearwaters, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, dugongs, and during their migration, humpback whales.
We have a wide range of dive sites with a maximum depth of 20m and usually only gentle currents, the dive sites around the Muiron Islands are suitable for all levels of snorkelers and divers. Swim-throughs and ledges provide plenty of places to search for shrimps, nudibranchs, eels, juvenile angelfish and other timid creatures. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friendly potato cod, large rankin cod, turtles, nurse sharks, soft coral gardens, anemones, clams and 1000’s of darting, colourful reef fish. Late in the year, manta rays grace several of our dive sites, too.

Explore the amazing underwater world of the Ningaloo Reef. Our tour visits two different dive sites so you can experience the diversity found in this amazing region. Turtles, sea snakes, Manta Rays, wobbegongs, sea fans, soft corals, moray eels, batfish, whitetip reef sharks, nudibranchs, colourful reef fish and many more critters provide an endless feast for your eyes! We are constantly adding new dive sites and we choose the best sites on the day.

* Certified Diver must have a logged dive within the past 12 months to participate on our diving tours. If you do not have a recent dive, you’ll need to complete a refresher with us before heading out on the ocean dives. * Refresher sessions are a simple review of basic dive planning, equipment, theory and dive skills. These sessions usually take 1.5−3 hours and include time in the pool, so you will need to wear your bathers and bring a towel. We schedule our refreshers on demand. Refreshers are currently $99/person.

We will Target either Humpback Whales or Whalesharks
Being wild animals every day is unique and our focus is on humpback whales, but the conditions and animal behaviours are not always just right enough to swim with humpback whales. We don’t know until we get out there what will be accessible, how the whales behave or if there is a whaleshark. What we do know is that we will have small groups, our own plane and the best crew to get the best result possible on the day.
From July until October we are authorized to operate tours where guests may enter the water when the whales are relaxed, with a maximum of group of 7 swimmers plus a guide & Videographer in the water at a time, while non-swimming guests observe the whales whilst the boat is manoeuvring as close as 75 meters! This is closer than any other whale watching cruise in Australia. This will give you a very special view for non-swimmers to enjoy the whales as they display their natural behaviours.
FREE Video & Pictures of the day Included. We will copy onto your USB which will need 3Gb of space. Not included is an 8Gb Humpback or Whaleshark souvenir USB which may be purchased as an Extra. Pictures and Video will be available at our shop in the Mall next to the bakery, after 9am the following day. If you are leaving early we can post the USB at the nominal postage charge for your home location.
The swimmers, with the careful watch of their guide, will slide into the water and approach the Humpback Whale or whaleshark. We have strict distance guidelines and safety is paramount in these very special encounters. Swimmers can approach as close as 30 meters from the whale which will provide an excellent surface view of the animals and allow the swimmers to hear their beautiful songs. The whales are curious and are allowed to approach us within 15 metres giving us a unique close encounter. Our dedicated spotter plane pilot personally talks via radio, to the in-water guide to ensure a great interaction.
Before entering the water near a whale or whaleshark, swimmers will be required to take a quick in water swimming assessment as required by our license conditions. You must be physically fit, over 13years old, MUST be a good snorkeller and have snorkelled within the past 6 months to be eligible to enter the water with a whale.
We also include an in water interaction Guarantee… If you don’t get to experience an in water interaction with a Whale, Whaleshark or Manta Ray, you get 50% off the ticket price of your next Whale swim tour.

OBSERVERS we can take 3 observers on each vessel Only. Our Discover SCUBA Diving Experience is perfect for those who do not have time to complete an entire PADI Open Water Course and for those who just wish to have a taste of diving. The Discover Scuba Diving experience with us will include discussing some basic dive theory with your instructor, introduction to dive equipment and two boat dives. Keep your eyes open during the trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shearwaters, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, seasnakes, and during their migration, humpback whales.
We have a wide range of dive sites with a perfect depth of 12m and usually only gentle currents, the dive sites around the Muiron Islands are suitable for all levels of snorkelers and divers. Freediving Level 1
The introduction to the purest form of diving. Learn proper breathing techniques, familiarize yourself withdiaphragm breathing and take a deep breath like you never have before. In the level 1 Freediving course you acquire the proper skills and knowledge to participate in Freediving to Maximum depths of 20 meters (60 ft) in the most relaxed and safest manner possible. You will develop the skills necessary to train your body to be more efficient with breath-holding, gain better respiration and muscle flexibility and learn new skills to take your Freediving to the next level.

Sit back for a cruise as we travel out to our various sites around the Ningaloo area. We get to snorkel with gorgeous colourful fish, corals, with opportune sightings of Turtles & much more! Then we often venture out to look for mantas or whales, during the season, from the deck of one of our big stable boats. Get ready for an added bonus of humpback Whale watching in Whale season. Our PADI Advanced Open Water Course is a two day course and includes five dives from one of our vessels on the Ningaloo Reef and we can begin any day.
For the Advanced Course, you will do Deep and Navigation plus three electives. Electives you can choose may include some of the following: Underwater Photography, Underwater Naturalist, Boat Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery or Fish ID.
We need a minimum of two students to conduct the course. If it is just you we can register you in our file as a person who is interested and try to find another person to do the course with you. Or you my chose to pay extra for a 1 on 1 course
We include the use of mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, BCD, regulator, tanks, weights, all of your tank fills, complimentary pick up and drop off to your in-town Exmouth accommodation and your certification fees. Also the PADI Adventures in
Diving Manual is included and is yours to keep. Each student for our Advanced Course must have the following: Open Water or equivalent certification card, a log book, a timing device and a logged dive from within the past 12 months.
If you do not have a current dive history, you will need to do one of our Refresher sessions before your course. Depending on which electives you choose you might need to bring some specialty items such as a slate for writing underwater
or a camera for the photography elective ( sometimes we can organise camera hire). Just check when booking what extra items you might need.
If you haven’t had a dive from within the past 12 months, you will need to complete a refresher with us before commencing the course. Refresher sessions are a simple review of basic dive planning, equipment, theory and dive skills. These sessions usually take around1.5 – 3 hours and include time in the pool, so you will need to wear your bathers and bring a towel. We schedule our refreshers daily and advanced bookings are required.
You do not need to have a diving medical for the Advanced Course but you must answer our medical questionaire. If you do have answered Yes to any questions, you may need to arrange a diving medical and they can be hard to get in Exmouth, so we recommend having a look through the attached medical questionnaire and getting any necessary medicals done before arrival. We cannot refund course fees if you cannot get a medical and need one.

Surrounded by an abundance of coral gardens, rocky ledges and intriguing dive sites, the Muiron Islands are located about 10nm north east of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open during the 45 minute trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shearwaters, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, dugongs, and during their migration, humpback whales.
We have a wide range of dive sites with a maximum depth of 20m and usually only gentle currents, the dive sites around the Muiron Islands are suitable for all levels of snorkelers and divers. Swim-throughs and ledges provide plenty of places to search for shrimps, nudibranchs, eels, juvenile angelfish and other timid creatures. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friendly potato cod, large rankin cod, turtles, nurse sharks, soft coral gardens, anemones, clams and 1000’s of darting, colourful reef fish. Late in the year, manta rays grace several of our dive sites, too.

Your Crew will brief and assist you throughout the day with information about the Whalesharks: sex, behaviour, feeding patterns, how to take photos and more. They will also instruct you on how to best approach and swim with the Whalesharks so that your encounter with the world’s largest fish is a truly memorable one.
FREE Video & Pictures of the day Included. We will copy onto your USB which will need 3Gb of space. Not included is an 8Gb Wghaleshark souvenir USB which may be purchased as an Extra. Pictures and Video will be available at our shop in the Mall next to the bakery, after 9am the following day. If you are leaving early we can post the USB at the nominal postage charge for your home location.
OBSERVERS we can take 3 observers on each vessel Only. This is great for people who want to watch their friends and family enjoy the experience but would prefer to watch from the deck rather than jump in with our big spotty friends! Observers can still enjoy a snorkel on the reef in the morning and also the afternoon if time permits. But cannot swim with a whaleshark in any circumstance.

The Whalesharks we visit are exceptionally consistent in their habits and successful encounters are extremely reliable. But please remember we are visiting wild animals in their own environment. We ask you to approach each encounter with caution and respect, and never to presume we have any control over their appearance or actions whatsoever. These whale sharks favour our encounters with curiosity and much tolerance.

At Exmouth Dive & Whalesharks Ningaloo it is our goal to give all customers satisfaction with all trips, courses and products. Part of our Fee goes to Ningaloo Whaleshark research.
A $100 deposit per person holds your booking with full payment due a minimum of 14 days prior to your tour.
We offer a complete snorkel and diving service, with professional and helpful staff. Talk to us about our other snorkel and diving charters, courses and services — we are only too willing to assist.
Proof of Age required for Seniors and Family/Child Rates. Minimum Age for any of our full day tours is 6 years Old.
All cancellations made 4 days prior incur a 20% cancellation fee.
No refunds for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice. Date changes are subject to availability and must be made 48 hours in advance and are subject to availability on the newly desired date.
Tours cancelled by Exmouth Diving & Whaleshark Centre due to weather or other unforseable conditions will result in re-booking.
All divers must meet the following criteria before scuba diving:
1) be certified as Open Water or higher (you will need to show your card!)
2) have a dive within the past 12 months OR have completed a refresher within the past 30 days OR complete a refresher session with us before heading out on the ocean dives.
Swimmers on our whaleshark tour must have a basic level of swimming ability and be able climb a ladder.
Refreshers ($90) are available every day with 24 hrs notice.
