Talking About Suicide for Community

Lifeline WA has worked with Aboriginal subject matter experts to contextualise one of our most important workshops, Talking About Suicide.

In the workshop, we talk about the following questions:

  • Should we talk about suicide?
  • How common are suicide thoughts and behaviours?
  • Can suicide be prevented?
  • What can I do to help?

Attendees will gain foundational knowledge about suicide amongst Aboriginal people, including warning signs, how to ask someone if they are thinking about suicide, and ways to connect the person with further support.

Both workshops will be facilitated by Rosalie Kickett, and Brooke Haseldine.

Rosalie Kickett is the 2025 NAIDOC Famale Elder of the Year. A proud Wilman, Beelya, Ballardong, Menang, Bibbulmen Nyoongar Nation Yok, is delivering Talking About Suicide for Communities and 2-hour DV-aware on behalf of Lifeline WA. With an associate degree in mental health and counselling and decades of experience, she has dedicated her life to empowering Aboriginal communities and promoting suicide prevention.
