Science Week at the Broome Bird Observatory

Get involved with Science Week at the Broome Bird Observatory! Join us for some fun family friendly Science Week(end) activities. We kick things off on Friday night, 15th August, with a short session on how to get involved in citizen science and a easy to follow shorebird ID talk. Then following the science week theme of ‘decoding the universe’ we will run a star gazing session at 7pm. Using a telescope you will be guided through the stars via stories, suitable for all ages.
◼️ $10 per person / $20 for families

On Saturday 16th August, we will be learning all things mudflats and learning how to take mud samples from 8am-10.30am. Mud boots provided. If you have ever wanted to see what the scientists in Roebuck Bay have been getting up to, now is your chance. We will check out the shorebirds (Shorebird Scoping - 10:30am to 12pm) as the tide pushes them off their feeding grounds and closer into the bay. We will finish the day morning off with a BBQ. BBQ at BBO 12pm to 1pm with sausages supplied from The Station Store! It is sure to be a hoot!
◼️ $10 per person / $20 for families or $15 if you stay at BBO.

We have camping sites available on the Friday night, so that you can enjoy both days of science week activities.

Visit the HOW TO GET TO US website page for directions to the observatory. We are located at the end of Crab Creek Road. Don't use Google maps directions. Please note: Pets are not permitted at the BBO.
