Sunsets and Shorebirds - Free Community Bird-watching at Town Beach
Join the Broome Bird Observatory team at beautiful Town Beach on multiple dates to experience one of Broome’s most remarkable natural spectacles — migratory shorebirds feeding on the Roebuck Bay mudflats as the sun sets. These relaxed, family-friendly sessions are open to everyone. Our experienced bird guides will have high-quality spotting scopes set up so you can enjoy close views of these incredible travellers. Many of these birds will soon depart on one of the world’s most extraordinary migrations, flying thousands of kilometres to the Arctic Circle to breed. This is a rare opportunity to witness them in the final weeks before their departure. Whether you’re a lifelong birder or simply curious about the wildlife on our doorstep, this is a wonderful chance to connect with nature, learn about the birds of Roebuck Bay, and enjoy a Broome sunset with your community. Non-birders especially welcome!
