Edward Badal and Bibianna Tumbler come together in an pivotal exhibition, weaving their stories of land, water, and culture through two distinctive artistic styles. Rooted in their Nyangumarta, Mangala, and Juwaliny heritage, their works explore the deep connections between Country, knowledge, and the journey of desert people to the coast.

Edward’s paintings depicts Nyangumarta Country, capturing the claypans, spinifex, and sand dunes through dot work and intricate patterns. His work reflects a strong connection to fire management, seasonal change, and the knowledge passed down through generations of land conservation.

Bibianna’s paintings bring the Great Sandy Desert to life, layering delicate lines and dots to evoke the shifting sands, waterholes, and seasonal bush foods of her Grandfather’s Country. Her work also explores the transition from desert to sea, reflecting the history of the Juwaliny and Mangala people who moved from the inland to the coastal lands of Bidyadanga.

Together, their paintings tell a story of resilience, movement, and the continual connection to Country. Through their art, Edward and Bibianna invite audiences to see the land through their eyes – as a living, breathing force that carries knowledge, memory, and culture.
