This scenic flight takes you on an unforgettable adventure over the Bungle Bungle Range, Lake Argyle, the Argyle Diamond Mine and the Ord River Irrigation Area. You will also fly over the stunning Carr Boyd and Osmand Ranges, and the Ord and Bow Rivers. Reaching Purnululu National Park, you will land at the remote and unsealed Bellburn Airstrip, where you will be met by a tour guide and an air-conditioned 4WD bus. Your guide will drive you further into the park, for a guided walk throughout the famous eroded towers and black and orange banded beehive shaped domes of the Bungle Bungle Range. This walk is of moderate intensity, and is about 3 kms in distance. Follow your guide on the walk into Cathedral Gorge, where towering cliffs open up to form a space with incredible natural acoustics. After a short rest, walk along the dry creek bed of Piccaninny Creek, before boarding the 4WD bus for a 45 – 60 minute drive to the northern end of the Park. A tasty picnic lunch will be provided to keep you fueled whilst exploring the park. After lunch, follow your tour guide on a 1.5‑hour return walk into the incredible Echidna Chasm. The rocky path which you follow on this walk weaves between towering cliff faces, and at times will narrow to a width of less than two-metres. Gazing skywards to the bright blue sky, the orange towering walls look as if they are lit from within, and are scattered with Livistona palm trees clinging to the walls. You may also have the opportunity to visit other walks at the northern end of the Park. This walk requires trekkers to climb over boulders and navigate stairs, so we recommend this tour to those with a high level of mobility. At the end of the days exploring, drive to Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge, to spend your night in a private en-suite cabin and enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and a full cooked breakfast. The next morning after breakfast, your scenic flight heads toward the Argyle Diamond Mine, where you will make a landing at the airstrip there for a fascinating 3.5‑hour ground tour of the mine site, to experience life at the mine firsthand. Stop for lunch at the staff village before an exploration of the Mine’s processing plant, as well as the processes and technology used in diamond production. You will also be able to see over $1 million worth of Argyle diamonds and jewellery up close in the display gallery, and perhaps purchase a souvenir or even a diamond of your very own in the mine gift shop.
