In 1894 work had begun to con­struct a Tramway to car­ry Moth­er of Pearl Shell from Streeter & Male Jet­ties to the Goods Shed. The boom of the Moth­er of Pearl Indus­try secured the tramway line and it became a cat­a­lyst to the growth of Broome. The Broome Tramway was used by all and became part of the Broome way of life.
