Community Engagement Session: TransBroome

Increased Broome bus services to roll out from 5 July

TransBroome passengers can look forward to more frequent services, additional bus stops, and the convenience of contactless payments. Four additional buses, new bus stops, and SmartRider and contactless payment options will make catching public transport to key destinations across Broome easier. The Cook Labor Government committed $14.2 million at the 2026/27 State Budget to continue and expand the Broome bus service. The enhanced Route 890 will commence on 5 July, operating every 30 minutes from 7.30 am to 7pm seven days a week during the peak tourist season (until 17 October 2026). Special event services will also operate for key local events, including Staircase to the Moon and during cruise ship arrivals.Passengers will be able to pay with their SmartRider from 5 July, meaning they can access the $2.80 Go Anywhere Fare and free travel on Sundays. Even more improvements are planned from October 2026, with expanded services proposed for Broome North, Roebuck Estate, Old Broome, Cable Beach and Broome Airport.
