Sydney Writer's Festival at Broome Library
Broome Public Library is once again bringing the world of literature, ideas and storytelling to the Kimberley with the return of the Sydney Writers’ Festival Live & Local program from Thursday, 21 May to Sunday, 24 May 2026. Across four days, audiences can enjoy free livestreamed sessions featuring some of Australia and the world’s leading writers, journalists, thinkers and storytellers — all from the comfort of the Library.This year’s program includes appearances from acclaimed authors and personalities including A.C. Grayling, Yann Martel, Trent Dalton, Florence Knapp, Jon Sopel, Mick Herron and more, covering topics from politics and history to crime fiction, memoir, food writing and fantasy.In addition to the livestreamed festival sessions, Broome Public Library will also host a range of special local events highlighted throughout the program, including:
- Cooking demonstrations with Trish Pepper
- Broome Writers’ Group workshops
- A local book club session
- Creative writing activities
- Folded Fables with Backroom Press
Families can also enjoy a children’s session with beloved illustrator and author Dav Pilkey. Visitors who attend sessions throughout the festival will also go into the draw to win a fantastic door prize, featuring an Art Nouveau puzzle and book voucher.Whether you’re an avid reader, aspiring writer or simply love a great conversation, the Sydney Writers’ Festival Live & Local program offers something for everyone.
