Shorebirds by the Bay. Free community birdwatching at Town Beach. Join the Broome Bird Observatory team at Town Beach near the Jetty on Friday 13th November from 4pm- 6pm to experience one of Broome’s most remarkable natural spectacles—migratory shorebirds feeding on the Roebuck Bay mudflats. These relaxed, family-friendly sessions are open to everyone. Our experienced bird guides will have high-quality spotting scopes set up so you can enjoy close views of these incredible travellers. Many of these birds have just arrived after on one of the world’s most extraordinary migrations, flying thousands of kilometres back from the Arctic Circle after breeding.Whether you’re a lifelong birder or simply curious about the wildlife on our doorstep, this is a wonderful chance to connect with nature, learn about the birds of Roebuck Bay, and enjoy a Broome sunset with your community. Non-birders especially welcome!
