Triple J Tours is a mul­ti-award win­ning com­pa­ny that pro­vides the longest, con­tin­u­ous dai­ly riv­er cruise in Aus­tralia — 55km on the Ord Riv­er between Kununur­ra and the Ord Top Dam at Lake Argyle. The first com­pa­ny to offer tours on the Ord Riv­er (Lake Kununur­ra), Triple J Tours was formed in 1988 and con­tin­ues to pro­vide its guests with awe-inspir­ing scenic cruis­es as well as an infor­ma­tive and inter­est­ing com­men­tary on the Ord Riv­er Irri­ga­tion Area and sur­rounds.

The devel­op­ment of the Ord Riv­er Irri­ga­tion Area in the 1960s and 70s has seen the town­ship of Kununur­ra flour­ish with a very suc­cess­ful agri­cul­tur­al indus­try. It has also become a very pop­u­lar des­ti­na­tion for nature-based and adven­ture tourism. Dai­ly cruis­es nav­i­gate the area between the damming of the Ord Riv­er in two loca­tions — the Diver­sion Dam, which was con­struct­ed in 1963 near Kununur­ra and the Ord Top Dam, 55kms upstream at Lake Argyle.

The Ord Riv­er pro­vides one of the most stun­ning riv­er sys­tems in Aus­tralia — it is sceni­cal­ly beau­ti­ful and rich in wildlife and flo­ra. The area between Kununur­ra and the Ord Top Dam is RAM­SAR list­ed (RAM­SAR empow­ers its mem­ber coun­tries to main­tain the eco­log­i­cal char­ac­ter of their Wet­lands of Inter­na­tion­al Impor­tance and to plane for the ​‘wise use’, or sus­tain­able use of all of the wet­lands in their ter­ri­to­ries) water source and as such, a bird-lovers par­adise.
