KAFTA - Kimberley Aboriginal Fashion Textiles Art

KAFTA - Kimberley Aboriginal Fashion Textiles Art - is our new and official program name for 2024.

In 2023 we presented the SKUTTA runway and Pop Up Fashion Fair, and had such great support from Kimberley people and visitors to our region. SKUTTA, a Kriol word originating in the Fitzroy Valley region, was used as the name for our runway and events in honour of the Fitzroy Valley creatives who lived through the flooding of the mighty Martuwarra in 2023.

The Fitzroy Valley High School Shooting Stars girls opened the runway with a collection celebrating country and their community, Kahlia Rogers, leading Fitzroy Valley based model, was the face of our events. Congratulations to the incredible team from Fitzroy for all you have achieved in the face of the flood disaster!

This year we are re- naming the program and event so that it can continue and represent everyone around the Kimberley for years to come as our local fashion textiles and creative industry grows.

We can’t wait to see everyone back on the runway with KAFTA this year!!
