Now in its 26th year, the Mowanjum Festival on Friday 11th July 2025 will once again celebrate the vibrant living culture of the Ngarinyin, Woddordda and Wunambal peoples. The grounds of the Mowanjum Arts Centre in Derby will host dancing, singing and performers from throughout the region in the delivery of unique storytelling experiences through Junba (traditional song and dance) and puppetry performances. This year we will also be storytelling with a unique giant puppetry performance.

From 2pm visitors will have the opportunity to watch or participate in traditional practices such as damper making, spear throwing, ochre painting and boab nut carving. And as soon as the sun goes down the performers will take centre stage in the sharing of stories showcasing traditional body painting and totems.
A Kimberley experience not to be missed this dry season!
