Opening Ceremony presented by Paspaley Pearls. The Opening Ceremony kicks off the Shinju Matsuri Festival's 16-day celebration of Broome’s vibrant culture. Explore the unique history and rich multicultural tapestry of our community through an exciting array of events! Join us at Town Beach to celebrate the official opening of Shinju Matsuri with a special Yawuru “Welcome to Country”, speeches and a variety of performances, before the traditional of Waking of Sammy the Dragon. Friday 21st August from 4pm - 6pm at the Shinju Matsuri Festival Hub, Town Beach.

Live Music Fridays. It's the perfect time of year to make time for catch ups with your loved ones and watch Broome's incredible sunsets over Roebuck Bay. Join us for live music every Friday from 5pm - 7.30pm at the Mangrove Hotel. Enjoy delicious eats, cocktail specials and the joy of live acoustics. The story of 'Millie the Black Kite' is based on the story of a famous Broome bird who accidently hitched a ride to Bali. This beautiful, interactive puppet performance is the result of a collaboration between a Broome and Indonesian puppet companies. The story is told using a multitude of puppets. The story is a reflection on the impact of human intervention in the lives of animals, the importance of understanding the needs of wildlife in a changing world, a call for humanity and understanding, and what it means to be free. It is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. BUY TICKETS. All tickets include a free Puppet Workshop an hour prior to the show commencing. Shinju Matsuri Festival 2026

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you! Town Beach parkrun is a FREE weekly 5k event for participants of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 7:00am in Town Beach precinct.90 Robinson St, Broome, WA 6725.

Come celebrate the Old Broome Road Shared Path upgrade! The upgraded pathway is complete, making it easier and safer to walk, ride, run and roll around Broome. Join us at Male Oval for a community morning of free activities, bike checks, fitness sessions, children's activities and more. Plus, use the pathway during the event and receive a complimentary coffee or smoothie voucher to redeem at participating Chinatown businesses (while stocks last!).
