The Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon observed in Broome Western Australia between April and October only. It is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting on the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide creating a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching up to the moon.

CircuitWest and Ngaliju present a Playing WA Tour of Piyalbajarri: Yarns and Songs — an unforgettable evening of stories and songs shared by 92‑year‑old Thiinma Elder, stockman and songwriter Peter Salmon, with long‑time collaborator Rosie Sitorus. Performed in Thiinma and English, Piyalbajarri offers the rare chance to hear a critically endangered language spoken by its only living speaker, alongside original music from the acclaimed project Warralgurniya (‘singing’). With warmth, humour and campfire storytelling, Peter reflects on a lifetime on pastoral stations, deep connection to Country, and the resilience and strength of culture.
