1.5km drive off the main road at the turnoff.
At Gumbanan Wilderness Retreat you will be immersed in an amazing cultural experience for the whole family. There is a variety of camping choices including facilities for campers, camper trailers, caravans, plus furnished safari tents for couples and families.
From the campground a variety of tours are available and cultural experiences with the family who share a passion and connection to the beauty and remoteness of this unique and pristine location.
This amazing location also is the gateway to the Buccaneer Archipelago with known attractions such as Waterfall Reef and Horizontal Falls. The bird-life around the campground is in abundance and is a must for any bird lover. It is also one of the few places in The Kimberley that the Gouldian Finch is home to.
Visitors enjoy a genuine cultural experience and knowledge from the local Bardi Aboriginal family, and are immersed in their culture and traditions. Gumbanan provides an excellent camping experience like non other, while visitors get to soak up the magnificent surrounding ocean and island views.

Bush camp (requires 4WD): Water, showers toilets, camp kitchen, communal fire pit and communal eating area around Fishtrap Café. No power.
2WD area: Showers and toilets, tap and hand washing facilities. Small/medium dogs are welcome but they must be kept on a leash. You must also clean up after your dog.
Boating: The islands around Dampier Peninsula can only be accessed with a Traditional Owner. Therefore no boats are able to be launched from Gumbanan.
