Dampier Peninsula Campgrounds and Accommodation

The Dampier Peninsula has four major communities One Arm Point (Ardyaloon), Djarindjin, Lombadina and Beagle Bay. There are many camping and accommodation options available.

The Broome - Cape Leveque road is sealed and 2WD accessible! High clearance, 4x4 vehicles are still needed if you plan to access more remote locations off the Broome-Cape Leveque Road, as many side access roads are unseale and 4WD required..

The turnoff to Cape Leveque road is located approximately 20 kilometres from Broome, on the Broome Road. The sealed Broome-Cape Leveque Road has improved access through the Dampier Peninsula to Aboriginal communities, pastoral stations, pearling industries and tourist destinations. Read this information from the Road Safety Commission to stay safe in the Dampier Peninsula.

Remote Aboriginal communities travel: Access to remote Aboriginal communities is permitted, however, some communities may choose to still apply their own restrictions. Some locations require a booking to enter. You must check with local visitor centres or directly with the community before you arrive to a Remote Aboriginal Community, especially if you are wanting to use amenities, or be provided with food or fuel. Stay informed to protect our remote communities or pop into the Broome Visitor Centre before you head to the Dampier Peninsula.

Note: There is NO FREE CAMPING anywhere on the Dampier Peninsula.

Dump points are not available on the Dampier Peninsula.

Transit parks have a maximum of 3 night stay and may have limited amenities.

Beagle Bay Community Entry Fee

Beagle Bay Community has a Community Entry Fee. Visitors to the community will be required to pay $15 each, children under 10 can enter Beagle Bay for free.

• Book ahead to avoid disappointment. There has been a significant increase in the popularity of tourism in the Kimberley which as a remote area puts pressure on the availability of goods and services.
• Managing your waste. Dump points are very limited on the Dampier Peninsula. Protect our local environment from surprise blackwater overflows by ensuring you use the dump points in Broome or along the Great Northern Highway.
• Take your toilet paper, food scraps and other rubbish with you. Even biodegradable products don’t break down as quickly as you think they might and no one likes finding used toilet paper in the bush.
• Being kind to the community. Please be patient and respectful. Do not enter private property or a community without prior approval.
