The 2026 the Kimberley Open Studios Trail opens the doors to dozens of authentic Kimberley artist spaces, Indigenous art centres and other makers and creators. Between Saturday 27th June to Friday 4th July, art studios between Ardyaloon on the Dampier Peninsula to Wyndham in the East Kimberley will open to visitors. There are exhibition launches, and other activities including accessible art activities delivered by artists; Bird illustration workshops, glass cutting demonstrations, macrame demonstrations, stencil making workshops and more! Join award-winning bird illustrator Peter Marsack at Broome Bird Observatory for a series of small-group workshops during his 2026 Artist in Residence. Field Sketching All Levels - 3 hr Workshop. "A professional lifetime spent in chaotic, cramped and noisy emergency departments leads her to seek out the quiet in our vast vistas. Landscapes to settle in to, that give you time to reflect and wash over you. Old places that on closer consideration, silently hold tension and energy in fine balance. I would like to acknowledge the spiritual relationship first nations people hold to this land. The Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon observed in Broome Western Australia between April and October only. It is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting on the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide creating a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching up to the moon.
