Expect a magical evening of live original folk songs & country blues with Freo-based duo Sea Swallow in collaboration with Broome bluesman, Aubrey Maher.Sea Swallow, Claire Moodie & Bill Lawrie, played some of their first shows as a duo while living in Broome through 2019.Since then they have played across the south of WA & as far away as the Scottish Highlands, steadily developing their sound & songs.Along the way they picked up the award for West Australian Music Country Song of the Year in 2023 & have played everything from noisy bars and big rodeos to concerts & festivals, as well as releasing two albums. For Bill, Live in The Lounge will be chance to play his blues harp again alongside Aubrey Maher. Bill & Aubrey played together in Broome's mighty “Jukebox Blues Band” a few years back.Aubrey learned his craft, working for many years in the Melbourne blues scene, before settling in Broome a decade or so ago. He is an exceptional interpreter of the blues.The Lounge Bar will be the perfect venue for the show - a set featuring the harmonies, the songs, & stage chemistry that are Sea Swallow hallmarks, plus a set of authentic, sweet and gritty country blues featuring Sea Swallow & Aubrey Maher.

Seagrass-Watch will be returning to Broome on Friday 22 August 2025 to deliver a free 3-day training event for our community! The course will cover seagrass biology and ecology, accurate scientific data collection, and equip you with the skills to help us run our surveys. The training is free for participants, thanks to the generous funders of the Broome Community Seagrass Monitoring Project: Rangelands NRM and Kimberley Ports Authority. A big thank you to the scientists from Seagrass-Watch who deliver this training globally and who will be coming to Broome to teach the methodology to our community in person! Seagrass-Watch is a non-profit organisation established in 1996, which has since set up over 400 monitoring sites across 26 countries—an incredible feat in the name of protecting seagrass.
