Shinju Matsuri Art Awards presented by the Shire of Broome - where the board of judges will be announcing and awarding the winners of 8 art categories. Monday 31st August from 6pm - 8pm at the Broome Civic Centre. With a drink on arrival, explore the bold, the brilliant, and the boundary-pushing artworks in this year’s awards. The exhibition will stay open daily from 10am-4pm Tuesday 1st September to Saturday 5th September and 10am-2pm on Sunday, 6th September.

The story of 'Millie the Black Kite' is based on the story of a famous Broome bird who accidently hitched a ride to Bali. This beautiful, interactive puppet performance is the result of a collaboration between a Broome and Indonesian puppet companies. The story is told using a multitude of puppets. The story is a reflection on the impact of human intervention in the lives of animals, the importance of understanding the needs of wildlife in a changing world, a call for humanity and understanding, and what it means to be free. It is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. BUY TICKETS. All tickets include a free Puppet Workshop an hour prior to the show commencing. 'A Stargazers Guide to the Cosmos' presented by Astro Tours, remembering Local Legend Greg Quicke. Tuesday 1st September from 6pm - 8pm. Come along to life drawing session at Kimberley Arts Network. KAN's regular Life Drawing sessions are open to everyone. Whether you're a practicing artist, or someone who just wants to improve your observational and sketching skills... KAN offers a welcoming and creative space for everyone.
